Join us for the West Africa Cycle Challenge for the adventure of a lifetime.
Our ultimate cycling challenge will take you from bustling Bo in Sierra Leone through lush green landscapes and welcoming local communities to one of Liberia's most beautiful beaches. You'll cross an international border, visit Street Child's projects and cycle all the way to Robertsport, a tropical palm-fringed beach.
Day 1 - Transfer to Bo:
After your flight arrives in Freetown, Sierra Leone you will be greeted by Street Child staff and travel to Bo. Once in Bo, you'll meet the local Street Child team. We'll allocate you a bike and our amazing mechanic Karim will set it up for you. Enjoy an induction and safety briefing from the Street Child team before your first visit to one of our projects in Bo.
Day 2: Bo to Potoru | Distance: 75.3km
On your first day of cycling head out from Bo towards Potoru. Cycle on a mixture of tarmac and hard-packed mud roads. On arrival in Potoru, you'll be greeted by the village chief and the local community. Stay in basic accommodation.
Day 3: Potoru to Sulima | Distance: 93.5km
Head out from Potoru to Sulima, enjoy really quiet, lightly undulating rural roads. Sulima sits on the river mouth and is small fishing village. That night you'll stay with the local community and guesthouses.
Day 4: Sulima to Senji, Liberia | Distance: 74.2km
On your third day of cycling you'll cross the border from Sierra Leone to Liberia around midday. Meet our Liberia team and enjoy a lunch break at the border. The last leg in Sierra Leone is on really quiet roads. Once you cross into Liberia you'll be on lightly undulating tarmac!
Day 5: Senji to Robertsport Beach | Distance: 61.3km. On the final day of cycling you'll pass by mangroves and lake inlets. Cycle on really flat tarmac and flat hard packed mud. On the way you'll visit one of Street Child's projects in Cape Mount for lunch. On arrival in Robertsport beach enjoy a fresh seafood dinner on the beach as you watch the sunset.
Day 6 & 7: Relax at the Beach & Transfer to Monrovia
Enjoy a rest day on the beach and a final team dinner. The next morning, we'll take you to the airport ahead of your flight. For those of you with an evening flight, don't worry! There's lots to do in Monrovia and the Street Child team will look after you until it's time for your flight.
"A real highlight was entering the village to an unbelievable reception at the end of the first day of cycling. The locals made us feel so welcome and were incredibly hospitable, particularly considering how little they have. I remember at the end of that day everyone was really tired because it had been quite a long stretch, but no one complained or moaned about anything, we just sat down and enjoyed a well earned beer together in the evening."

"I loved this trip, it is a great way to properly experience a country and feel like you are doing something off the beaten track, that many don't get to experience and in a way that is personally very satisfying. You really get a chance to see the work that Street Child is doing and where the money you raise goes."
